
Germany’s shipowners association (VDR) says the country’s merchant fleet remains the world’s seventh largest despite a difficult market environment. The VDR notes that geopolitical tensions are raising risks on key sea lanes — from the Middle East to the Red Sea and the Black Sea — pushing up operating and insurance costs.
