The annual Tripartite meeting for the maritime sector will take place in Tokyo on 27-29 October 2026, at the Kaiun Club. The event brings together shipyards, classification societies and shipowners in a forum focused on maritime safety, environmental protection and the evolution of international technical regulation.
The announced agenda covers issues with direct relevance for shipbuilding: energy efficiency, digitalisation, underwater radiated noise reduction, onboard carbon capture, ballast water management and biofouling. Cybersecurity requirements for newbuildings and performance standards for alarm management are also part of the programme.
One industry-focused session will examine how the next generation of ships can be built in a fragmented regulatory landscape while supporting safety, advanced technology and the environmental objectives of the International Maritime Organization.
