DG GROW requests information on upcoming maritime public procurement tenders in the EU

The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW) has asked SEA Europe and national associations to provide information on significant maritime public procurement tenders expected to be launched over the next two years.

The request follows concerns that some public contracts have been awarded outside Europe, raising competitiveness questions for the European shipbuilding and maritime equipment industry. Earlier monitoring would help industry and EU institutions follow these procedures more closely and, where appropriate, react in time.

Relevant information may include planned or upcoming public procurement requests, indicative launch calendars, the nature and scope of the project, major developments during the procurement process and contract award decisions, where available.

For ANCONAV member companies, the topic is relevant because it offers a practical channel to flag both opportunities and risks in European maritime public procurement, especially for projects where European industrial capacity may compete directly with non-EU bidders.
