SEA Europe has sent the European Parliament and the Council of the EU the position of national associations on the Industrial Accelerator Act, asking for European maritime manufacturing to be included immediately in the scope of the act rather than waiting for a later review.
The organisation is calling for the maritime manufacturing sector to be recognised among the strategic sectors covered by industrial acceleration areas and to be included in the European-origin requirements applied to public procurement and public support schemes.
According to the update circulated to ANCONAV members, SEA Europe supports an approach combining a minimum European-content threshold with a list of strategic technologies for lead markets in the maritime manufacturing industry. It also proposes non-price criteria for the procurement of specialised vessels used in strategic maritime, renewable energy and subsea projects.
The initiative aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Europe’s maritime industry while maintaining open, rules-based trade and assessing legal and real reciprocity more carefully in access to public support and procurement.
