DNV has announced the July 2026 edition of its class rules and standards for ships and offshore units, with the new requirements scheduled to enter into force on 1 January 2027.
The update includes 92 documents published after the consultation stage. Newly highlighted class notations cover vessels prepared for shore power supply and battery integration, alongside additional qualifiers for existing notations such as ER (ULEV).
For both ship and offshore class, the FL notation clarifies the designed fatigue life under defined operating conditions. The changes are relevant for designers, shipyards, owners and suppliers involved in the technical compliance of maritime projects.
